President are an anonymous British metal band who appeared out of nowhere in February 2025, announced on the Download Festival bill without a single release to their name. Nobody knew who they were — and strictly speaking, nobody still does. The band consists of vocalist President, guitarist Heist, bassist Protest and drummer Vice. Their debut EP King of Terrors surpassed 50 million streams on Spotify within six months, and they have since been booked for festivals and arenas across Europe and North America. The vocalist performs in a dark suit, white gloves and an eerie, almost lifelike mask with silver-grey hair and deep wrinkles — like a wax figure brought to life, equal parts elegant and unsettling. The remaining members are dressed in black with face-covering masks. The entire universe is constructed as a political campaign: concerts are “rallies”, music videos are “broadcasts”, and fans are urged to “join the campaign”. The music blends metalcore with electronica and a cinematic unease that vocalist President himself has compared to the atmosphere of The Shining — beautiful, but disturbing. Live, President are an experience at the intersection of concert and theatre. The stage is sparsely furnished with a podium and the band’s neon-lit double cross, while the masks and mystique create a space where the line between performance and ritual is erased. For those who miss the thrill of discovering something entirely new — this is it.
