Zara Larsson from Solna, just outside Stockholm, won the Swedish talent competition Talang in 2008 – at just ten years old. She had no formal vocal training, but had taught herself by listening to artists like Beyoncé and Whitney Houston. Four years later she signed with TEN Music Group, and her debut EP Introducing (2013) featured the single “Uncover,” which went straight to number one in both Sweden and Norway and was certified six times platinum in her home country. Her international breakthrough came with “Lush Life” in 2015 – an irresistible summer track that reached the top five in 18 countries. The album So Good (2017) cemented her position with hits like “Never Forget You” with MNEK, “Ain’t My Fault,” and “I Would Like.” Her collaboration with Clean Bandit on “Symphony” that same year gave her a first number one in the United Kingdom. Poster Girl (2021) and Venus (2024) followed, before her fifth album Midnight Sun arrived in September 2025 – critically acclaimed and debuting at number one in Sweden for the third time. In late 2025, “Lush Life” went viral once again after a fan performed the choreography alongside Larsson onstage during the Midnight Sun Tour. The track climbed all the way to number four on the global Spotify chart in January 2026 – nearly a decade after its original release. Musically, Larsson operates at the intersection of pop, R&B, and danceable electropop. Her voice is powerful and confident, with an intensity that gives even the lightest pop songs a driving force. Beyond music, she has made her mark as a vocal advocate for feminism and gender equality, and is as well known for speaking out as she is for singing – making her one of Scandinavia’s most complete pop stars.
