Rumpistol Ensemble

Rumpistol Ensemble is the live ensemble formation of Danish producer, composer, and pianist Jens B. Christiansen (born 1978), who has been releasing electronic music as Rumpistol since 2003. Based in Copenhagen, Christiansen expanded his solo project into a full ensemble to bring a human, acoustic dimension to his electronic compositions, featuring cello, violin, fretless bass, harp, alto flute, guitars, and vocals alongside his own piano and electronics. The ensemble's sound is meditative and cinematic, inhabiting a space between ambient, jazz, and neo-classical music. Lush strings and intimate acoustic textures give Rumpistol's cavernous electronic soundscapes a warmth and closeness that defines the ensemble experience. Christiansen is also an award-winning film composer and completed his Piano Trilogy in 2023, further bridging the worlds of electronic and classical composition.
