Nourished by Time

Nourished by Time is the solo project of Marcus Elliot Brown, a singer, songwriter, and producer from Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up listening to his parents' collection of hip-hop, jazz, and 90s R&B, Brown began playing guitar at 15 after watching Slash perform with Michael Jackson, later enrolling at the Berklee College of Music at 17. He adopted the name Nourished by Time in 2020, describing it as a personal mantra about consistency and patience. Brown received widespread critical acclaim for his 2023 debut album "Erotic Probiotic 2," which was awarded Best New Music by Pitchfork. His genre-bending sound merges lo-fi synth-pop, post-punk textures, early-90s R&B, and new jack swing influences into a singular aesthetic that critics have called metamodernist. He has become one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary indie music, blending nostalgic sonic palettes with deeply personal songwriting.
