Marwan Moussa, born January 10, 1995, in Ismailia, Egypt, to an Egyptian father and German mother, is one of the Arab world's most prominent rappers and producers. He grew up in Cairo and studied cinema and directing at The American University of Rome before pursuing music production and sound engineering in Los Angeles starting in late 2016. He first entered Egypt's hip-hop scene in 2016 via SoundCloud, and his collaborations with Abyusif on "La2 Mafeesh" and "Zaghzaghto" brought him into the spotlight in 2017. His 2019 track "El Bosla Da3et" marked a turning point for both his career and Egyptian trap as a whole, blending Atlanta trap aesthetics with Egyptian mahraganat influences. Moussa is the third most-streamed Arab rapper of all time on Spotify, behind fellow Egyptian Wegz and Moroccan artist ElGrandeToto, and has accumulated over 230 million streams on Anghami and 180 million YouTube views. Known for his comedic, loopy lyrics paired with catchy hooks and polished production, he has been profiled by Billboard, Rolling Stone, and numerous regional outlets as a pioneer of Arabic hip-hop.
