Cemetery Skyline

Cemetery Skyline is a Finnish gothic rock and dark pop supergroup formed in 2021, featuring members from some of the country's most renowned metal bands. The lineup includes vocalist Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), guitarist Markus Vanhala (Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum), keyboardist Santeri Kallio (Amorphis), bassist Victor Brandt (Dimmu Borgir, Entombed A.D.), and drummer Vesa Ranta (Sentenced). Together, they explore a dramatically different musical direction from their primary bands. Their debut album "Nordic Gothic" (2023), released via Century Media Records, showcases a lush, synth-driven sound that draws from 1980s new wave, gothic rock, and darkwave — a stark departure from the death and doom metal their members are known for. The project demonstrates the versatility of these veteran musicians and their shared love of bands like The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Sisters of Mercy, filtered through their distinctly Nordic sensibility.
